Mauna Loa® Joins Fellow Hawai‘i Brand, Kahala, to Bring the Aloha Spirit to the Mainland with a Pop-Up Shop at Westfield Century City, Los Angeles, CA May 28th - July 27th
The two Hawai‘i brands partner in a pop up to give customers a chance to experience Hawaiʻi with Kahala’s line of aloha apparel and Mauna Loa’s macadamia snacks and new Macadamia Milk Ice Cream!
LOS ANGELES, CA, May 28, 2021 – Bringing island vibes and the spirit of aloha to the mainland this summer, Mauna Loa®, the leading brand of macadamia nut products in the US for more than 75 years, today joins fellow Hawai'i brand and makers of “The Original Aloha Shirt,” Kahala, in the launch of a pop-up shop at Westfield Century City, in Los Angeles, open to the public from May 28th through July 27th.
As Kahala’s first foray into retail stores outside of Hawai‘i, and Mauna’s Loa’s first attempt at retail outside of their Visitor Center at their plant in Keaʻau, Big Island, the temporary store opening marks a significant step for the continued history of both brands, and bringing Hawaiʻi to the West Coast.
The two-month pop-up event will feature Kahala’s signature apparel, including its Collector’s Edition: A limited series of aloha shirts, featuring iconic 1940s heritage designs and made from rayon filament fabric by the same Japanese mills that produced Kahala’s original shirts. Known for its premium macadamia nuts, Mauna Loa’s new brand refresh features beautiful new packaging with illustrations of iconic locations across the Hawaiian Islands, as well as a bold new flavor: Kiawe Smoked BBQ Macadamias. Also launching exclusively at the pop up- Strawberry Guava Nice Cream, from their new Macadamia milk non dairy nice cream. It’s paradise in a pint. Scoop-size samples will be available in flavors like Chocolate, Kona Coffee, and Mango Lilikoʻi.
Since launching in Sprouts nationwide, the Non-Dairy Macadamia Milk Ice Cream has the top four new items in plant-based ice cream, according to recent sales data, and has two of the top 16 plant-based ice creams in both the NorCal and SoCal divisions of Albertsons/Safeway.

Kids under 12 are invited to “show their aloha” by coloring or designing their own aloha shirt. Design sheets are available in-store and upon completion can be entered into a weekly giveaway for a free kid's aloha shirt. One winner will be drawn every Friday. Available June 4th- July 23rd.
